Welcome Back...

Hello World-
It's been a while, hasn't it!!  I don't have a ton of time so this blog has sat on the back burner for quite a while.  Perhaps I can turn all that around and reconnect.  It has always been so important to me to share the amazing discoveries of our crazy days with those that love us.  The sharing ensures a sense of community that makes this somewhat isolated life less lonely!

Brooke Rhiannon is now a whopping 4 1/2 years old!  She is also a whopping 40 lbs.  She has legs for days and likes to knock heads, arms, furniture, and door jams with them on a regular basis.  We are trying to carry her less and less.  Making her reliant on her own mobility.  We often help her walk through the house by holding her firmly at her torso.  She takes steps well which is a huge blessing and keeps us very hopeful for efficient ambulation down the road!

Brooke has a few toys that she LOVES.  This picture shows her with her Flip Flop from the enabling devices website/catalog.  The flying saucer piece turns 360 degrees on the base.  She flips it around like crazy and get rewarded with lights and crazy noises.  Music plays loudly - but we let the batteries run out on that part.  Brooke's other Enabling Devices fav has been drooled into submission and went back to the manufacturer for some rehab.

Brooke recently got a big cast off her right leg.  The Physiatrist (physical medicine and rehab doctor) had a series of casts put on her in an effort to lengthen her achilles and right calf muscle.  She responded wonderfully and tolerated the weeks of casting really well!  The cast came off and the first thing she did was pull herself up to stand in the bathroom - on the side of the tub - because she wanted to get in so badly.  She did this all by herself.  I actually found her there!  A bit scary and equally AMAZING!  Our next stop in the tight right leg scenario is more botox.  Yes More ... she has had two rounds.   The third will be a bit more invasive and she'll have to be sedated.  I'll keep you posted on that as well.

For equal billing purposes...Here's a DeMar Family Update:
I am home.  I quit about 6 weeks ago now!  I have never been so proud of a decision in my life.  Ryan and I went rounds with the different scenarios and in the end, decided that this is the VERY best for our family.  Each one of us.  As hard as the days can be, I am so happy and pleased with our choice!  Ryan took on a different job.  He is still with the same company but is now managing the Sacramento and Reno offices of M&M commercial real estate.  He is really good at what he is doing.  I couldn't be more proud of him!
Best of all...there is a sense of calm around here.
Julia is a firecracker.  She started school two days a week - 3 hours a day.  She is having fun in her new independent world of horses, baby goats, baby cows, and 'mushmellow' the bunny (Marshmellow).  She has not cried once....well she did cry one time, but it was when I was picking her up.  She didn't want to leave.  It hurt my feelings a little, but I got through it.

I think that's enough for right now...I vow to keep better posts and share more of my perspective!  Thanks for sticking it out!
Love
Kadie
